Find the message before the file
A filename such as “contract.pdf” is rarely unique. Start from the sender, thread, date or subject context so the agent resolves the intended message and then its attachment.
Ask from what you remember
You may remember the person or purpose but not the filename. That is enough to start a structured retrieval workflow.
